What they fail to realize is that the media has this pesky thing called lead-time. In truth, it's best to do three months of releases prior to the big holiday seasons. 

Newspapers, magazines and other periodicals typically need to have articles on topics a minimum of two to three months in advance (and in some cases, even six months in advance). This is especially true around the holiday season. If you have a holiday-centric web site or service to promote don't wait too long to find a company to help you spread the word. 

So keep in mind that if you need holiday promotions that you give the press adequate time. Since holidays happen year round, the time to act is probably right now.
